    Promotion Policy

    PROMOTION POLICY AS PER CBSE GUIDELINES

     

    Prep to Class 5

     

    Continuous and comprehensive evaluation in elementary and primary school is a tool of diagnosis and remedial action. The test result indicates the level of proficiency and areas of improvement for the child.

    In case a student is found struggling with the curriculum and consistently does not show any improvement at all, personal meetings with the parents to counsel them about their child.

    Remedial measures are to be taken along with regular counseling and followup so that the child attains the minimum required score of grade “D”. In case the parent feels that the child needs to repeat the class as he/she is not able to cope up, a request for the same can be raised to the school through written communication.

     

    Classes 6 to 8

     

    In order to provide sufficient scope and space for different abilities and learning needs of students in the scheme of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE), number of significant co-scholastic areas has been included in the assessment scheme.

     

    As far as overall assessment of a student for the purpose of promotion to next class is concerned, the following points will be adhered to:

     

    1. Every student is required to get a qualifying grade ‘D’ or above in all the subjects in the Scholastic Area
    2. A student getting grade ‘E1’ or ‘E2’ in scholastic areas in one or more subjects will have to improve his/her performance in one subsequent attempt to obtain qualifying Grade ‘D’ in these subjects. Otherwise No re test is conducted.
    3. 85% attendance is imperative to be eligible for Scholar Badge.
    4. A student must have attended school with minimum 75% attendance to be eligible for promotion to the next higher grade.
    5. Admission to class IX in a school shall be given to such a student who has passed class VIII examination with minimum grade ‘D’ in all scholastic subjects.

     

    CBSE Class 9

     

    1. It would be mandatory for a student to appear in both the Summative Assessments in both Classes IX & X.
    2. Students would have to obtain at least 25% marks in the summative assessments (Both the SA 1 and SA2 taken together) to be eligible to qualify the examination i.e., at least 15 marks out of 60 marks and total 33% in each of the five subjects of scholastic area, as per the present practice.
    3.  If mandatory 25% marks have NOT been obtained in the Summative assessments in a subject, Grade E1 or E2 will NOT be upgraded.
    4. In case of non-appearance in SAs on ground of illness, one more chance to appear in the SA1 may be given upto 31st October in Class IX & X.
    5. For SA2 in class IX one chance for improvement of performance be allowed within a period of one month from the date of declaration of the result.
    6. In respect of students participating in sports at National/International level, exemption from appearing in any one of the Summative Assessments may be granted subject to prior approval of the Board provided the student will be participating at National and International level organized by recognized Federations/CBSE/SGFI and being held during the month of the conduct of the Summative Assessments.

     

     

    CBSE Class 11

     

    1. Promotion is granted on the basis of the performance of the pupil during the entire session.
    2. A student must secure at least 33% in all the subjects individually and in aggregate in theory as well as practical subject separately for fulfilling the pass criteria.
    3. In case the pupil has secured less than 33% in one subject only and 33% and more in all other subjects in theory and practical examination separately, pupil will be eligible for ‘Compartment’ examination.
    4. In case the pupil has secured less than 33% in two or more subjects, pupil will not be eligible for ‘compartment’ examination and will be detained in the same class.
    5. Students to have a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible to appear in final examination.
